Hangover Remedies
OK, it's the next morning and
you have a terrible hangover. What can you do to get rid of it? Some hangover
remedies are free! There are certain things you can do to reduce the length
and severity of your hangover, but there are no instant hangover remedies.
You'll still have to suffer for a while before your hangover is completely
gone.
- Drink (non-alcoholic)
liquids. Fruit juice or water are great hangover remedies. You may
have to drink a small amount at a time to keep it down. The more liquid
you can get (and keep) in your body, the faster you'll start to feel
better. Note: Stay away from coffee. Like alcohol, coffee is a diuretic
and causes your body to lose precious water. When you have a hangover,
coffee is not a remedy. It will only make things worse.
- Eat something. As
with the water, you may have to eat small amounts at a time to keep
it from coming back up. Eating will help get your vitamins, minerals,
and blood sugar back to normal levels. Eating bread will also help to
dilute the nasty stuff that's eating away at your stomach. Some people
swear that greasy foods like french fries or scrambled eggs and bacon
are a great hangover remedies.
- Go back to bed. Your
body needs rest to recover from what you've put it through. Chances
are you stayed up late earning your hangover. You'll cure your hangover
faster if you get some rest. Sometimes time and sleep are the best hangover
remedies. Wouldn't
you rather sleep through your pounding headache and upset stomach than
be awake through every minute of agony while your body cures itself?
You could also try one of the
many commercial hangover remedies that are available. You can learn
more about these remedies on our hangover
pills page.
